Video Editor Responsibilities

We are looking for a seasoned video editor who at the very core, enjoys what they do and wants a creative atmosphere to keep on doing it. As a video editor, you'll be responsible for assembling recorded raw material into a finished product that's suitable for broadcast, social media and traditional media, telling a cohesive story wihtin the pre-determined amount of time. The material may include camera footage, dialogue, sound effects, graphics and special effects. You will work directly with the Art Director to ensure the branding and vision is in line with the goal of specific projects and work within timelines set collaboratively at the onset of each project.

Responsibilities

  • Review shooting script and raw material to create a shot list based on scenes’ value and contribution to continuity and overall goal of the project

  • Take a brief and at times utilize storyboards to grasp production team’s needs and specifications to deliver with attention to detail within an established time frame

  • Manipulate and edit film into a cohesive story

  • Trim footage segments and put together the sequence of the film

  • Input music, dialogues, graphics and effects

  • Create rough and final cuts

  • Ensure logical sequencing and smooth running

  • Consult with stakeholders from production on the post-production process

  • Edit social media “episodes” and maintain consistency and brand standards

  • Continuously discover and implement new editing technologies and industry’s best practices to maximize efficiency.

  • 360 video editing (not a prerequisite) 
     

Requirements

  • Extremely strong video editing ability with a proven track record and impressive portfolio

  • Expert experience with digital technology and editing software packages.

  • Premiere Pro, After Effects, Photoshop, Cinema 4d

  • Thorough knowledge of timing, motivation and continuity

  • Ability to find solutions to mistakes made during shooting, sometimes very creative

  • Must excel at ability to tell a compelling story

  • Familiarity with special effects, 3D and compositing

  • Creative mind and storytelling skills

  • Demonstrates comfort with an iterative design process that includes accepting and acting on feedback and constructive criticism

  • Brings innovative and interesting ideas to the project development process

  • Well organized and able to balance multiple projects simultaneously

  • Communicates effectively and works collaboratively with variety of team members
